Representative Cases
1. Participated in the defense of the well-known “Shajing Xinyi’an” gang-related criminal case. The defendant Chen was accused of participating in a mafia-style organization and operating a gambling house, with the procuratorate’s sentencing recommendations of two and a half years and ten years’ imprisonment respectively. The core defense focused on whether the gambling business targeted unspecified external personnel outside the criminal group. Through targeted in-court questioning and rigorous advocacy against the prosecution, the court ultimately ruled the gambling house offense invalid. The defendant was only convicted of participating in a mafia-style organization and sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
2. Defended the defendant Yang in a theft case. While working for SF Express, the defendant stole a package containing gold ornaments valued at RMB 280,000. Under the original sentencing criteria, such an enormous theft amount would warrant a fixed-term imprisonment of no less than ten years. During the defense, he timely identified the newly updated judicial sentencing standards for theft issued by the Supreme People’s Court, which had not yet been locally implemented in Shenzhen. He successfully persuaded the court to apply the new judicial interpretation, argued that the defendant lacked subjective awareness of the stolen items’ value and never attempted to dispose of the goods, and secured victim reconciliation. Eventually, the court recognized the amount as a “large-value theft” and granted a mitigated sentence, with the defendant finally sentenced to two years’ imprisonment.
3. He has also participated in handling a series of influential cases, including the Nan You Li gang organization case, the special campaign major case of Zhao’s false VAT invoice issuance (Special Project No. 2), and the bribery case of a deputy ministerial-level judicial official Zhao in Jiangsu Province.
